THE new owner of the former URC Church and Church Rooms in St Peter's Street, Tiverton, says the church could be used by the community.
Sue Searle, a business owner and property investor from Exeter, bought the properties last week.
The Church Rooms are going to be converted to three luxury flats and the church will be opened up for use by community groups, artists and musicians.
Sue said: “When I first saw the church I could visualise it as a cafe and art gallery, but now I think about it, the space lends itself to a variety of community uses as well.
“There is a stage and seating capacity for 300-plus people with a wonderful balcony in the main hall.
“I can see it as a theatre for choirs, bands, orchestras, drama groups, pantomimes and conferences.
“It would make a wonderful wedding venue and I would love to see music festivals and craft fairs in there, too.”
