PHASE two of an ambitious development project at Willand Rovers Football Club has been completed with the building of new men’s, women’s and disabled toilets, as well as baby changing facilities.

The project, which was put together in July 2012 by project manager Caroline Dummett, saw the first phase come to life with the arrival of a new 60ft changing unit.

The project has been funded by a grant from Viridor Credits Environmental Company through the Landfill Communities Fund. Mike Mitchell, club chairman, said: “It’s been totally amazing to be able to give the club a muchneeded facelift. After many years of use it was definitely time to get it done.

“We need to keep up to date with what we have to offer, not only for the club but for the local community as well. We are getting more people wanting to use what we have, which is great news for us.

“Being awarded these grants has been great as we would have never have been able to raise such sums.”

The club has also received news of further funding of £14,740 from Viridor Credits towards the last part of the project.

Mike, who has been chairman at the club since 1997, said: “This really will be the icing on the cake for us. Being able to have a new function area is going to prove very popular with the locals as well as being a real plus for us, especially with the amount of party enquiries we get.”

Work on the final stage is now underway and is expected to be finished by mid-May.
