Detectives investigating the armed robbery at a Paignton jewellers’ have released CCTV of men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

One man, 21-year-old Zico Rawlinson of Barton, Torquay, was last week charged with robbery and possession of an offensive and appeared before magistrates.

Now investigating officers are releasing CCTV film taken at the store in a bid to identify two other suspects.

In the CCTV the men are seen to enter the store wearing hoody-style tops over white painter-and-decorator style disposable overalls.

Shortly after they are seen exiting the store on Torquay Road along with the member of staff who attempts to stop them escaping.

During the robbery the shop owner sustained a minor injury to his arm.

Witnesses managed to detain one of the suspects whilst another two made off and got into a waiting car. The white Peugeot was recovered a short distance away with the two other suspects making off on foot.

Taken in the raid were around £7,000 worth of jewellery including rings, pendants, bracelets and brooches made of yellow or white gold.

Det Sgt Sam Smoothy said: “We have had a great response from the public so far but are keen to track down the two suspects.

“We hope that in releasing the images someone somewhere will recognise the suspects from their general appearance, gait and mannerisms.”

Police are also appealing to any DIY shops and builders’ merchants in the area to see if they remember selling three outfits similar to the one described.

DS Smoothy said: “These are the cheap, disposable suits that can be bought in a number of places. We are hoping to jog someone’s memory who may have sold three of these suits recently.”
