Simone and James team up again to produce walking guide
12:00pm Saturday 5th April 2014 in Devon
MID Devon authors Simone Stanbrook-Byrne and James Clancy have teamed up once more to produce their 11th walking guide.
This time they’ve turned their attention to one of the most beautiful parts of the county with their latest offering Circular Walks in the South Hams.
The walks in this full-colour guide explore the glorious coastline and beautiful beaches of this southern tip of the county as well as tucked-away inland areas with very pretty villages and pastoral views.
“I can’t believe it’s our 11th book”, says James. “Our research has taken us all over the West Country, but there can be no more beautiful area than the South Hams.
Simone and I thought we knew the county well but the 15 routes that we’ve researched and walked within the book have shown us so many beautiful areas that are new to us”.
As well as fantastic walking the area offers some exceptional opportunities for landscape photography and Circular Walks in the South Hams will also appeal to birdwatchers.
As with all their guides, the book contains clear, accurate and easily-followed directions. Each route includes details of places to eat, places to stay, nearby tourist attractions, wildlife and history notes plus the authors’ tips and suggestions.
The walks (distances in miles): Soar Mill Cove (3.5), Hallsands (5), the Salcombe Estuary (4.75), East Prawle (4), Blackawton (6), Cornworthy & Tuckenhay (5), Aveton Gifford & Bigbury (4.25), Dittisham (4.75), Harberton (4.25), Wembury (5.75), Kingswear (4.25), Little Dartmouth (3.25), East Portlemouth (4.25), Ringmore & Kingston (7.5), Noss Mayo (5).
Circular Walks in the South Hams is published in time for Easter on 11 April and will be available direct from the publishers: Culm Valley Publishing, 01884 849085, http://www.culmvalleypublishing.co.uk/
