The rail line at Dawlish is set to reopen on Friday, April 4, two weeks ahead of the initial mid April estimate.
The Great Western Main Line through Dawlish has been closed after storm damage earlier this year.
Work continues to remove the sheared cliff face at Woodland Avenue near Teignmouth, using Spidermax, a specialised piece of kit that allows staff to safely undertake mechanised work very close to the edge at the top of the cliff face.
Testing of the signalling equipment, and the installing of fences between Dawlish station and Kennaway Tunnel is ongoing.
Traffic control and barriers remain on the road so that equipment and skips can be removed quickly.
