Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A38 at Trerulefoot on Friday.

The collision, involving a tanker and a motorcycle, happened at around 4.40pm on the Trerulefoot roundabout.

The Suzuki GSX 750 motorcycle and blue Scania tanker lorry were both travelling from the Plymouth direction when they approached the roundabout.

The 45-year-old male motorcycle rider, from Liskeard, sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance where his condition remains critical but stable.

A specialist forensic investigation of the scene took place which required the road to be closed for six and a half hours.

Traffic was diverted at Tideford via St Germans and the road was reopened shortly after 11pm.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to this incident to contact them on 101 quoting log 620 of February 28.
