Police in Plymouth are appealing for witnesses after a woman in her 60s was assaulted in the street.

The incident happened on Wednesday, January 22 at around 3pm in Cornwall Street, Plymouth.

The victim was walking past a cafe with a walking stick when she was approached by a woman who had been sitting outside the cafe.

An altercation took place and the victim was then punched in the face.

A 34-year-old woman from Plymouth has been arrested on suspicion of assault and released on police bail until 24 February 2014.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police on 101 quoting EC/14/639, or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
