ORGANISERS of an ice rink at a Tiverton community centre have said the festive period has been “a huge success”.

Moorhayes Community Cen-tre installed the rink for the first time at Christmas to put the centre on the map, and after being open nearly three weeks organisers say they are pleased with how well things have gone.

Brian Saunders, who runs ent-ertainment at Moorhayes, said: “It has all gone well – we’ve had good support over Christmas and it has been pretty popular.

“We wanted to get the centre noticed and put it on the map.

“It has been a success and we hope to do something again next year, whether that’s an ice rink or something else.”

Fellow organiser Phillip White was also pleased with the popularity of the rink, adding: “It has been good actually, really good.

“Lots of people have been down to the ice rink and I’d say it has been a success.”

The ice rink was open every day from December 23 until Jan-uary 2 except Christmas Day.
