TRAFFIC is now easing on the M5 Southbound between junctions 27 and 28 following the accident earlier this afternoon.

All lanes are now open however, traffic is still congested and queues are likely.

A CHILD has been flown to Frenchay hospital in Bristol with non life threatening injuries. 

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and ask that they contact police on 101 quoting police reference 0466 271213.

THE Southbound carriageway is now open however one lane remains closed.

THE Northbound carriagway is now open from J28.

DEVON and Cornwall Police received the call at around 12:45pm.

They estimate that the road will reopen at around 2.45pm.

DEVON and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service atended the scene.

On their website it says crews confirmed one car in collision with the back of a heavy goods tanker vehicle.

The car had left the highway and was on its roof in a ditch.

One adult and three children were being assessed by ambulance crews.

A SPOKESPERSON for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "The single vehicle road traffic collision happened on the slip road.

"We believe the car left the carriageway and overturned.

"There were four occupants in the car and a child has possible serious injuries.

"An air ambulance is on the way."

THERE has been a single vehicle accident on the M5 Southbound between J27 Tiverton and J28 Cullompton on the hard shoulder.

Police are on the scene and fire crews are on the way to clear a fuel spillage.

An air ambulance is on the way and motorists are being warned to expect delays.

One lane is blocked.
