A man has been arrested for possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life after an incident in Newton Abbott.

At around 7pm on Friday (December 13), officers attended St Mary's Court, Newton Abbot, after reports of a man making threats to kill.

Following a planned operation using armed officers, a dog handler and police negotiators, a local man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He has been released on police bail until 13 February 2014.

Police say there were no injuries reported in what they called a "domestic incident".
