Police officers from South Hams are cracking down on the use of drugs in pubs by carrying out random tests using specially trained dogs.
They made unannounced visits to a number of pubs in Totnes and Dartmouth and had the full support of the licensees.
The operation resulted in a number of searches and one individual was issued with a cannabis warning.
Inspector Andy Tomlinson said “The message is clear. We will not tolerate the illegal use of drugs in our area and we will continue to work closely with licensees to tackle any issues around it”.
The operation was carried out on the evening of Friday, December 6. More are planned for the future.
