MEMBERS of Newton St Cyres Young Farmers Club have been busy in the last few weeks with a fun filled programme of events.

The members have listened to interesting talks from Tom Lee and Alice Giles (of Bow YFC) ,about their recent trip to Amsterdam with the Devon YFC Travel Programme.

At the following meeting, Richard Gibson of BBC2 ‘Toughest Place to be a farmer’ gave an inspiring talk on his time in Kenya.

Tom Lee and Georgina Davie joined members from across the county at River Dart Country Park for the Devon YFC officer training weekend, where they took to the high ropes and other team building games, and learnt different ways to make a YF club successful.

Following this, the club took part in the South Zeal Carnival, despite the bad weather, the members had a brilliant time in their fancy dress to the theme of ‘Wild Things’, and pleased to take home some silverware and first place for their category.

Members spent an evening flower arranging to make table centre pieces for their Annual Dinner and Dance which was held at the Tiverton Best Western Hotel on Friday November 1.

Over 100 members, friends and advisory attended the evening, with guest speaker Andy Barnes from ‘Scrapheap Challenge’ who gave a very entertaining speech.
