Sandford lorry driver killed in M5 crash "truly loved his job", say family
A LORRY driver killed in a crash on the M5 on Tuesday lived “life to the full”, say his family.
Trevor Knight, 53, from Sandford, near Crediton, was driving a lorry which was involved with a collision with another lorry and a van on the M5 southbound in South Gloucestershire, near the Michael Wood Services, at around 4pm.
His family issued this statement: “Trev totally enjoyed life to the full and never more so than when he had his family around him. Trev had been a lorry driver for over 20 years.
“It was a job that he truly loved to do and he had made many great friends doing this job.
"He loved to play football for his local team until he felt it was time to retire - he then went on to become the manager.
"He also loved quiz nights at the local pub, although his team never won a great deal. Taking part was his idea of 'doing something for the community'.
"He always organised the local firework display along with his wife and team-mates. Trev will be greatly missed by all his family and friends in and around the village."
Collision investigators want to hear from anyone who was on the motorway - driving southbound or northbound at the time of the collision - who could have information to help their enquiries.
People should phone police on the non-emergency number, 101.
