A YOUNG farmers’ foam party near Tiverton will feature in a fly-on-the-wall documentary about young people’s attitudes to relationships, sex and sexual health.

The event, organised by Devon Young Farmers Club, will form one of the main storylines in the third episode of BBC Three series Unsafe Sex in the City, to be broadcast next Wednesday at 9pm.

The group were filmed at the party at East Knowstone, where sexual health specialists from the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust were on hand to carry out chlamydia tests, hand out condoms and pass on advice.

Nick Creasy, Devon county organiser, was keen to invite the trust staff to the event to raise awareness of sexual health among the young farmer community.

Nick, who has undertaken sexual health training himself, said: “I’ve always been keen to promote responsible attitudes towards sexual health among our members and have done this in a range of ways, including giving out information and condoms, and working with other partners.

“I decided to contact the sexual health service ahead of this event because I thought it would be an excellent way to spread the message further.

“Their stand in the marquee attracted a great deal of interest, and a number of our members went away with a much clearer picture about STIs, contraception and other sexual health issues.

“We’d be very keen to work with the sexual health specialists at events like this in the future.”

The trust staff who attended are based at the GU medicine and sexual health clinic in Sidwell Street, Exeter, but run GU medicine and sexual health clinics in Tiverton.
