Local celebrities to raise cash at Huntsham Court fundraiser

A STAR-STUDDED cycle fundraiser at Huntsham Court, near Tiverton, is set to raise thousands of pounds for the Devon Air Ambulance next week.
Along with local supporters of the charity, actress and TV presenter Caroline Quentin, Olympic equestrian Mary King MBE and Lady Penny Mountbatten are among the high-profile names taking part in the 30- mile bike ride on Tuesday.
One of the charity’s two helicopters is scheduled to land at the mansion ahead of the race’s start at 10am.
A celebrity champagne reception and a full programme of entertainment, including a special appearance by Blundell’s School’s parent and teacher choir, The Mamas & The Papas, will follow at 6pm.
The event, coinciding with National Air Ambulance Week, is the first to be held under the Huntsham Hotspots initiative devised by owners Christopher Badham and Damian Llambias.
Christopher said: “We look forward to welcoming the Devon Air Ambulance Trust andits guests to Huntsham Court to mark the first Huntsham Hotspot, and we’re delighted that through our scheme they have been able to arrange such a large and dynamic fundraiser, which is certain be a huge success, raising a lot of money on the day.”
The initiative means that South-West charities can apply to use Huntsham Court for charitable or fundraising events for free.
Damian said: “We selected the Devon Air Ambulance Trust froma number of applications based on the creativity behind their proposed event, and we now look forward to welcoming applications for Huntsham Hotspots in 2014.”
Caroline Quentin, who lives near Tiverton, said: “I’ve known Huntsham Court for years, and it’s an amazing Victorian private mansion with a great ethos – the perfect place to hold any charity event.”
