11:00am Saturday 24th August 2013 in Devon
THE Mayor of Tiverton, Cllr Janet Rendle, has raised £1,000 for a hospice in the town.
Mrs Rendle handed over the cheque to nurses at Pine Lodge, who care for local people with terminal illnesses.
The money was raised through a charity concert at Blundell’s School on July 6.
The participants, Blundell’s musical director, Andrew Barlow, sopranos Hana Skarkova and Bella Barlow and flautist Rosamund Harpur entertained over 180 people with a variety of musical styles.
Tracey Skinner, from the over-arching charity Hospiscare, said: “We are thrilled to receive this fantastic donation and would like to thank everyone involved in organising this event.”
The concert raised £2,000 in total with the other £1,000 going to The Mayor’s Community Fund.
