A BUMPER summer of fun is on offer at an adventure playground in Tiverton thanks to a £10,000 Lottery grant.

The money will fund improvements at the 3.5 acre wooded site in Cowleymoor Road, which is the largest facility of its kind for miles around.

Plans include building a new roundhouse for indoor activities and children are being invited to help design it with Forest School Worker and Play Scheme Leader Kate Smith.

The funds will also pay for more staff at the site, which is owned by Mid Devon District Council and leased to the charity Tiverton Adventure Play.

A project coordinator and forest school play workers will be running a play scheme throughout August.

Children can build dens, cook around the camp fire, get involved in crafts, outdoor games, badge making, and a new digital camera means photography is also an option.

Tiverton Adventure Playground's free summer play scheme is open from 10am to 4pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult. For more information phone Kate Smith on 07842-644880 or Paul Tucker on 07967-179666.
