Plymouth man dies after A30 crash

A 23-year-old Plymouth man has died in hospital following a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the A30 at Tedburn St Mary at the weekend.

The driver has been formally identified by his family and has been named as James William Hedges, aged 23. He was from the Southway area.

A specially trained police family liaison officer has been appointed to the family.

The collision took place at around 5.30pm on Sunday and involved a Peugeot 106 car which was travelling east.

The driver lost control of the vehicle which left the road and came to rest down a steep embankment.

The driver sustained life-threatening serious head injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital.
