Calling all West Devon election candidates
9:29am Friday 8th March 2013 in Devon
People thinking of standing for the Devon County Council elections on May 2, along with their agents, are being invited to an information evening arranged by West Devon Borough Council's elections team.
The information evening is taking place at 5pm on Tuesday, March 12 at the council's Kilworthy Park offices in Tavistock.
It will give prospective candidates and agents an insight into the county council elections process and an opportunity to ask questions.
Nomination papers will also be available on the night giving plenty of time before the deadline for their return by noon on Friday, April 5.
In addition, prospective candidates can get more information from Rob Hooper of Devon County Council on a wide variety of topics including eligibility, training, clerical support, where meetings are held, and time off work to carry out council responsibilities.
He can be contacted by email rob.hooper@devon.gov.uk Meanwhile, residents are being urged not to miss out on their opportunity to vote by making sure their name is on the Electoral Register.
Anyone not registered who wants to vote, must complete and return an application form by Wednesday, April 17.
This is also the deadline for postal vote applications.
In West Devon, the May elections are being organised by the borough council on behalf of the county council.
Voters go to the polls on Thursday, May 2, 2013.
