POOL players at a Tiverton social club have amassed a global audience of thousands since they began streaming games live on the internet.

Nearly 3,000 viewers have logged-in to watch league matches since Tiv-erton Constitutional Club added the feature to its revamped website.

Armchair spectators can also discuss the match by adding live comments to games via built-in Face-book and Twitter links and an on-line library allows viewers to scroll back and catch up on games they have missed.

Smartphone users can even watch matches on the move by downloading the Upstream app and searching for ‘conclubtiverton’.

Club committee member Paul Moulding, who set up the webcams with Alun Manley, said: “I thought it would be a great way to attract new players to the league.

“The only thing missing is live commentary but I know a few people at the club who would be appropriate to do it, so hopefully we’ll get that up and running soon.”

Nearly 40 players from across Devon have signed up to the club’s league since Paul launched it two years ago and interest is expected to be even higher when the new season starts in July.
