Plymouth police ask for help solving 30-year-old missing person mystery

 Police in Plymouth are appealing for help from the public regarding a woman who vanished more than three decades ago.

On December 28 1979 June Ellena Brockway, then aged 43, discharged herself from Derriford Hospital.

Now, 33 years later, she is the longest running missing person from the city.

It is known that after leaving hospital she went to her home address in Saltburn Road, St Budeaux, packed a bag and left.

Police were initially called regarding her disappearance by her husband. Their home address was vacated years ago, and no forwarding address has ever been found.

She was deemed a low-risk missing person at the time and remains so after her disappearance was recently looked at again as part of a routine annual review.

Checks such as internet searches, Voters, 192.com and police systems have been undertaken to no avail. Police do know of her maiden name or whether she had other family.

The officer in the case, PC Ian Watson, said: “We have no recorded sightings of June in the last 33 years. She would now be a 76-year-old lady and is the longest-standing missing person for Plymouth. Her whereabouts remain a mystery.”

She was described at the time as white, of thin build, with brown eyes and with shoulder-length dark brown, thinning hair. She was known to habitually wear a chocolate brown overcoat and wore a platinum wedding ring.
