Public to have their say on parking issues
7:00am Saturday 12th January 2013 in Devon By Mid Devon Star Reporter
MID Devon District is consulting the public on the amount of parking that should be made available in all new developments.
It is hoped the feedback will inform a new supplementary planning document (SPD) to help the council plan what provision of parking should be considered when designing new public developments.
Potential topics to be covered in the document could include setting a minimum or maximum amount of parking for all new developments, the provision of visitor or disabled spaces, the size of garages, and the design and layout of parking areas.
The document could also set a standard for the provision of safe and secure cycle parking.
A report outlining the subject, scope and potential content of the parking SPD can be found on the council’s website - www.middevon.gov.uk/spd If anyone wishes to make comments, they should do so in writing by 8 February 2013. This is only the initial consultation and there will be a further opportunity to comment on the draft SPD before it is adopted.
Comments should be sent by email to planningconsultations@middevon.gov.uk, or posted/delivered to: Forward Planning, Mid Devon District Council, Phoenix House, Phoenix Lane, Tiverton EX16 6PP
