Well meaning helpers were asked to stay away as the search for a teenager who jumped from a Torpoint ferry resumed today.
Some fifty staff were involved in the search for missing Jordan Cobb this morning. Jordan was seen to jump from the Torpoint Ferry at around 9.15 pm on New Year’s Eve.
The coordinated search involving 50 members of staff from the Coastguard and Devon & Cornwall and Ministry of Defence (MOD) Police included both sides of the river and the dockyard taking advice from the force Lost Person Search Manager (LPSM).
The public were asked to keep away from the foreshore.
A police spokesman said that people have been onto the beach and out in boats and although they understand their willingness to help, it is not a safe environment and could hamper the coordinated search that is taking place.
MOD will search the dockyard and searches will go as far as the citadel. On the Cornish side, the search will go from Mt Edgecumbe to Millbrook, including the St John’s and HMS Raleigh areas.
Anyone with any information is asked to call Devon and Cornwall Police on 101.
