Large fire at recycling site near Exeter
HUNDREDS of tonnes of wood recycling caught fire at a site near Exeter.
Fire crews were called to the incident at the Greendale Barton site near Woodbury Salterton just after 8.30am today (Sunday 28).
Crews found approximately 400 tonnes of wood recycling materials alight with site staff using plant machinery to create a fire break.
A fire service spokesman said the blaze was likely to be a 'protracted incident' and said crews might be on the scene throughout this evening to contain the inferno.
