A new souvenir and gift shop at Lizard Lifeboat Station has been officially opened by the village’s primary school children.

They were there for the station’s first official open day, in which the youngsters from Landewednack Primary School sung onboard lifeboat Rose accompanied by class teacher Judith Green.

The open day, organised by members of the station’s fundraising and management committees, allowed visitors the chance to look round the boat house and receive guided tours of the station.

There was also an opportunity to talk to the station’s crew, shore crew and fundraising teams. Refreshments and a barbecue were served and the day was hailed a great success.

Mike Lord, chairman of the lifeboat, said: “Our thanks go to the children from Landewednack School who enthralled the crowds superbly, to all of the stations personnel for organising such a successful day and to everyone who came and supported our event.”

The station shop is now open seven days a week and sells a selection of souvenirs, gifts and cards for Christmas. For more information call 01326 290881 or visit www.thelizardlifeboat.org.uk.
