An animal Rescue centre based at Hayle has been given almost £12,000 thanks to the fundraising of Camborne’s Pets at Home store.

The store has been collecting money on behalf of the Animal Welfare Trust, which has its Cornwall Animal Rescue Centre at Wheal Alfred Kennels, as part of Pets at Home charity Support Adoption For Pets.

Staff have now presented a cheque for £11,710 to a representative from the rescue centre, which cares for abandoned and homeless animals.

Sarah Kenny, store manager at Pets at Home Camborne, said: “I'm delighted to present this cheque to National Animal Welfare Trust on behalf of Pets at Home's charity, Support Adoption For Pets.

“They're a very worthy cause and do a fantastic job for animals in the local area, and I know this money will help them make an even bigger difference to the welfare of Camborne pets.”

Pets at Home Camborne also has a dedicated pet adoption centre, which is home to a range of animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and other small creatures looking for new owners, often due to a change in their previous owner's circumstances.
