A former Truro College student who died after her car collided with a tree had only celebrated her 20th birthday less than three weeks before.

Emma Paige Lancaster had been on her way to pick up her younger sister Sophie Alice in poor weather conditions when her Fiat Punto lost control on a right hand bend near Lostwithiel, crossing the carriageway and colliding with a tree.

As a result of the crash on October 8, Miss Lancaster received life threatening injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Her life support machine was switched off last Friday, October 12.

Described as a “bright, vivacious, charismatic young lady”, Miss Lancaster was a pupil at Penpol Primary School in Hayle from 2000 to 2004 before her family moved to Looe.

At Truro College she achieved three distinction grades in music, alongside a business studies A-level and had just been recruited by a large national insurance company.

Her family, including her sister and younger brother Ollie, said: “Our gratitude is endless to all emergency personnel who never gave up and allowed the family and close friends some very precious time.”
