Staff hold charity bake sale

Staff at Helston’s branch of Barclays managed to have their cake and eat it when they held a charity bake sale.

They set up a stall selling cakes, baked and brought in by staff, throughout the day to raise funds for children’s bereavement support charity Penhaligon’s Friends.

Customers were asked for a donation in exchange for a slice of cake, with lemon and blueberry cake, Victoria Sponge and a selection of buns among the offerings.

Organised by customer advisor Joe Sandles – dressed as a giant monkey for the day – the event raised £263.

With match funding from Barclays, this has seen a total of £526 collected for the charity.
