Redruth door staff spot checks find all are legally licenced

Spot-checks on door staff, town marshals and security staff working in Redruth on Saturdays found all were working legally.

Investigators from the Security Industry Authority inspected workers in the town as well as at Newquay and Wadebridge to check they held licences and were displaying the relevant badges.

Of the forty-four people inspected, 43 had correct licences. One worker found working at a holiday park in Newquay did not hold a valid licence.

In Newquay, four people received warnings for breaching SIA licence conditions by either failing to display their licences or failing to notify the SIA of a change in their addresses.

The SIA will contact a local security supplier following the alleged misuse of the organisation's logo on its signage.

The 25 sites visited included licensed premises, adventure parks, factories and holiday parks.

SIA head of investigation Paul Cartlidge said: “Overall, the results from this operation are positive. Cornwall attracts a high number of visitors especially during the summer making it a busy time for security staff so it is vital that they are working legally and abiding by licence conditions."
