THERE was a touch of Hollywood glamour around Truro on Saturday as the city’s annual Cornwall Pride celebration took to the streets.

Hundreds of people took part in the event, which saw a 30 minute march from Lemon Quay to Victoria Gardens, where a picnic took place.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Hollywood’, with participants urged to dress as their favourite film star of character.

A spokesman for the event said: “Despite the rainy weather a fantastic day was had by all. We put the wet weather plan in to action early in the morning on Pride day seeing all the stall holders move to the big marquee on Lemon Quay.

“Inside the marquee were lots to see and do with stalls from organisations, clubs and individuals offering information to all.

“The day was filled with entertainment from an array of acts which saw crowds of people flocking in to enjoy. “The Pride Party had a new and bigger bar than before, larger outside area as well as some absolutely fantastic entertainment.

“The live acts were captivating as they entertained crowds who were dancing, singing along, and of course blowing their whistles. “Cornwall Pride Committee 2012 would like to say thank you to everyone that helped us to facilitate the wet weather plan and continue, in the face of such bad summer weather, to provide such an enjoyable event of fun filled celebration for us all.”
