Cornwall’s MP’s met with the Cornwall Campaigning Action Group in Truro last week, to discuss the ways in which the Citizens Advice Bureau can help them serve their constituents.
The Cornwall Campaigning Action Group is formed of Citizens Advice Bureau Cornwall’s social policy coordinators; volunteers who work on issues brought to the attention of Citizens Advice Bureau by clients.
Last week’s meeting, which took place in Truro Library, saw CAB volunteers discuss those issues with MPs.
All six of Cornwall’s MP’s were present or were represented at the meeting, with Sarah Newton MP, who is chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Citizens Advice, said: ‘‘I work closely with the Citizens Advice Bureau in my constituency and know how effective it can for bureau volunteers and MPs to join forces to raise particular issues, or resolve the problems of individual constituents.
‘‘The meeting really highlighted this, and allowed us all to discuss further ways in which we can all work together for the people of Cornwall.
‘‘It was also an excellent opportunity for MPs to thank Citizen’s Advice volunteers for the invaluable work they do, every day the advice and help offered by Bureaux makes a real difference to people across Cornwall.’’
