Cornwall Council is supporting this year’s Cornwall Pride event in Truro on Saturday 25 August.

Cornwall Pride celebrates the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities of Cornwall in a fun and inclusive event.

Cornwall Council will be there to promote its services and opportunities, and show its support for the communities it serves.

Representatives from the Council will join the parade, which starts at 11am from Lemon Quay, and will be in Victoria Gardens, where revellers will gather after the parade.

People will be invited to find out about adoption and fostering opportunities, speak to our adult education service and find out whether they’ve got what it takes to be a Cornwall Councillor.

We will also be asking people to tell us what they think could be done to improve equality and equality of opportunity across Cornwall. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service will be there to talk about recruitment opportunities within the service.

The council will also be promoting the services and support on offer from its registration service for those who may be planning a civil ceremony in Cornwall.

from the LGBT PACT (Partners and Communities Together) will also be there to discuss specific issues and provide information on what advice and support is available. They will also be advising people on how to report hate crime.

Carolyn Rule, Cornwall Council cabinet member with responsibility for equality and diversity said “Cornwall Council is inclusive and we want to reach out to people from all of our communities, not only to let them know about what the council can offer to them, but what they can offer to Cornwall.”
