Man smashed his way into Camborne property
5:24pm Thursday 12th July 2012 in Cornwall
AFTER having a door shut in his face, Daniel Penrose smashed his way into a property in Camborne, causing £290 worth of damage.
Penrose, 22, of North Roskear Village, Camborne, broke a window in the front door and then went through to break an internal door said David Harvey for the CPS.
“The people inside were very frightened and in fear for their safety” he added.
He said Penrose had called at 35, Union Street and knocked on the front door.
The occupant recognized him as someone he did not want to see and shut the door.
Penrose pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage of £290 to property belonging to Denzil Corrigan on April 30. He had previous convictions.
Paul Simon, his solicitor, said he had been drinking and had gone to the house to visit a friend he believed lived there, when in fact he no longer did. When the door was shut in his face he believed the friend was “messing about”. He appeared to be making more of a success of his life now, reducing his court appearances significantly.
Magistrates in Truro ordered Penrose to pay £290 in compensation, attend an attendance centre for 36 hours and do 60 hours of unpaid work. He was given a drink banning order for a year, and an anti social behaviour order with a condition he should not enter Union Street, Camborne.
