Mawgan mum loses licence for drink driving

A Mawgan mum has lost her driving licence after being caught behind the wheel while two times over the drink-drive limit.

Karen Beeslee, 26, of Langweath Estate, Mawgan, told officers she had drunk two glasses of wine and a couple of spritzers.

She pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates’ Court to drink driving at Edgecombe on June 2.

Alison May for the CPS said officers stopped her after seeing her narrowly miss another vehicle.

Terry Eastwood, her solicitor, said she was a single mother with a young child. She had had friends with her, when the man there had started to “kick off” in the early hours, damaging the property. Fearing she might be evicted because of what he was doing she offered to drive him home. She did not feel unfit to drive.

Beeslee was fined £110 and £100 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for 20 months.
