The Aberfest 2006 will take place again this Easter with an even more ambitious programme of events.

Aberfest takes place every Easter, the venue alternating between Brittany and Cornwall. It is a celebration of all things Cornish and Breton.

This year the organisers are delighted with local support as Cornwall welcomes a party of 87 musicians, dancers and wrestlers from the Morbihan region. This includes a 40 strong Breton dance team called Avel han Tadeu (translated from Breton means "As Our Fathers").

Events take place over the Easter weekend and start in Falmouth on the Saturday morning with street performances and a procession through the town.

If anyone wants to learn Breton or Cornish songs or dances, there will be workshops in Falmouth Methodist Chapel during Saturday afternoon.

The highlight of the Saturday events will be at the Princess Pavilion on the during the evening when a host of Cornish and Breton musicians will be performing on two separate stages. There will be ample opportunity to dance the night away and learn some Breton and Cornish dance steps.

On Easter Sunday afternoon the venue moves to the atmospheric setting of St Michaels Mount. There will be a procession across the causeway and then a host of performances at various sites on the Mount. This will provide an opportunity to see Cornish and Breton Wrestling, watch demonstrations of dance in traditional costume and listen to a host of musicians.
