The dermatology department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro has received a donation of a flat screen television from a support group.
Members of Psoriasis and Eczema Group Support (PEGS) handed over the HD ready TV to staff from the department on Tuesday.
The TV will be used by patients who have to stay in the department all day while undergoing surgery.
Lead nurse Julie Knowles said: “We very much appreciate this kind donation. It will definitely add to the experience of patients using our department.”
Members of PEGS raise money for the dermatology department through a range of activities, the last one being a sponsored walk.
PEGS chairman Christine Trudgeon said: “We raise the money and then the department requests things, usually small items, from us.”
PEGS is a group offering support to anyone suffering from psoriasis, eczema or other skin conditions, as well as their families and carers.
It was set up by sufferers Christine Trudgeon and Nathan Lake after they met while both on a dermatology ward in 2004. The group has been running for around four years now and has ten members from all over the county.
PEGS treasurer Nathan Lake said: “New members are always welcome. We meet a minimum of four times a year in the dermatology department and it is a chance for people to share their experiences, receive support and hear talks by medical staff.”
The group meets between 6.30pm and 8pm with the next meetings planned for April 7, August 4 and November 3.
To donate money call Christine on 01872 222917.
