There was nothing that could have been done that was not tried already to prevent the tragic death of a small boy from Camborne, an inquest has heard.
Jamie Lee Coppinger died of a dilated cardiomyopathy – where the heart expands and pumps blood less well – on April 5 this year, aged just three.
At an inquest into Jamie’s death at Truro City Hall last Wednesday, the court heard statements from his mother Sharon Coppinger, who was at the inquest with her husband Ian, and doctors Patricia Weir and Peter Fleming, both from the Bristol Children’s Hospital where he died.
Dr Fleming, a senior paediatrician at Bristol Children’s Hospital told the inquest: “Investigations into Jamie’s death were all very thorough, including an investigation at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and there was no evidence to suggest this was caused by something that could have been identified earlier.”
Coroner Dr Emma Carlyon gave a verdict of natural causes and paid condolences to Jamie’s family.
