The weather forecast for Culdrose air day tomorrow is not good, but those organising the event still hope for a good crowd.

A full flying programme is planned and it is hoped the cloud base will be sufficiently high enough for it to go ahead.

All proceeds from the event will be for Royal Naval charities.

Special traffic plans will be in hand throughout the day, not least for those approaching the airfield both from the Falmouth direction and from The Lizard.

Everyone is asked to adhere to the instructions given. There will be plenty of parking available at the air station where the gates will open in the morning with the flying programme due to begin at lunchtime.

There will be numerous Royal Navy and RAF aircraft and military aircraft from several other countries. Merlins, Sea Kings, Lynx, Chinooks, Apaches from the helicopter world. Sea Harriers, Typhoon, Hunter, Sea Vixen and Catalina from the fixed-wing forces, plus numerous other civilian and historic aircraft. The Black Cats, flying a pair of Lynx Mk3/8 helicopters, are the Royal Navy’s official helicopter display team. The maritime Lynx is an anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare helicopter operated from the majority of the Royal Navy’s frigates and destroyers.

The Royal Jordanian Falcons are making a welcome return to Air Day this year as the national aerobatic team of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Blue Eagles are the helicopter display team of the Army Air Corps.

No airshow would be complete with the intense sound of a modern jet fighter in full afterburner and this year we have the Sea Vixen and the Typhoon. In addition to the spectacular flying display there is an enormous amount to see on the ground. In the static aircraft park there will be over 40 aircraft of many different types. Tornado, Hunter and Hawk jets; Merlin, Sea King, Apache and Lynx helicopters; Tucano, Harriers, Atlantique and lots of other visiting aircraft.

There is also a full arena programme with Field Gun Competitions and daring displays of motorbikes, parachutists and military dogs. All of the Naval Air Squadrons and units will be out on display ready to talk about what they do and helping the public to try out specially devised activities and challenges.
