Helston has a new town councillor in the form of Jonathan Radford-Gaby.
Only one person applied to fill the casual vacancy in the town’s north ward, created when Nick Martin resigned.
This led to Mr Radford-Gaby being elected unopposed.
And he won’t have far to go for the town council meetings – he lives just around the corner from the Guildhall, in Penrose Road with his wife Wendy, who used to be district commissioner for the Helston Guides and its junior packs.
Mr Radford-Gaby has two children, 19-year-old Hannah who went to Helston Community College and 16-year-old Tom, who has just finished taking his GCSEs at Mullion School.
Mr Radford-Gaby, who works for a construction company in Truro, said he decided to stand for the position because he had “a lot opinions!”
“I absolutely love the town I live in. I would like to put something back, I guess,” he added.
