Pupils from Helston Community College will join 100s of students from schools across Cornwall to celebrate the very first Green Britain Day at the Eden Project today.
The event aims to inspire the nation to work together to lower Britain’s carbon footprint before the Olympic and Paralympic games commence in 2012.
Using these two events as inspiration, organisers are encouraging people to ‘do something green for the team’ on Green Britain Day.
Some suggestions include children and parents making green pledges on green footprints, giant displays in playgrounds, green-themed activities in class and special assemblies.
Green Britain day will end in a spectacular concert at the Eden Project starring music legend Paul Weller.
Tim Smith, co-founder of the Eden Project said “The Eden Project shares the vision that environmental change must go hand in hand with social change. We need a culture that knows how to sustain us.”
“Tackling climate change is about more than individual action; its about people working together and learning from each other to make a collective difference.”
