Fire fighters had to cross the main train line last night to rescue a man who was stuck in a river at Par.
Emergency services were called at 10.20pm yesterday by a passer by who had seen the man falling into the Par River near Harbour Road.
Fire crews from St Austell, Fowey, Lostwithiel were all called, along with specialist line rescue kit and water rescue appliances from Bodmin, St Austell and Falmouth. Police officers were also sent.
After confirming with Network Rail that the train line had been closed, crews had to cross the main Penzance to Plymouth train line.
Once the fire fighters had access to the river, the crews used a triple extension ladder and dry suits to rescue the man.
He was then placed in the care of ambulance crews.
