Mullion golf money "fore" cancer charities

A golf day proved such a big hit that a Helston woman has now been able to present cheques to two cancer charities.

Selina Tresidder organised the Dave Gardner Golf Day with Mullion Golf Club, in memory of her brother-in-law who died of skin cancer five years ago.

The tournament has been held for a number of years and this year was won by a team consisting of Clive Biddick, Peter Oliver, Neil Perry and Simon Kearsley.

A raffle was also held on the day.

The event raised £530 each for Cornwall Hospice Care and Helston's Cancer Funding for Cornwall shop run by Margaret Fitter in Coinagehall Street.

Selina said: "Thank you to everybody who was involved in the organisation and who donated anything, everyone who bought raffle tickets and helped raise as much as we did."

Selina has been a dedicated fundraiser for cancer charities since losing three of her family members within the space of a few years - her sister Angela Potts and brother Peter Roberts have also died of the disease.

She is now planning a football day on August 1 and a "Pink Night" in October.
