A man from Lanner has been named as the South West finalist for UK dad of the year.
Matthew Rowberry, father of ten-month-old Oscar, is one of eight regional finalists out of thousands of entries for the award.
He was nominated by his wife Tracey after Oscar’s challenging birth.
Tracey said: “We had quite a hectic year last year. We got married and had our son. At that time I had some health problems and ended up suffering a cardiac arrest and had a pacemaker fitted.
“During this time Matthew had to look after me and Oscar in between doing the housework and holding down a full-time job so that’s why I nominated him.”
Matthew and Tracey have a second child on the way, which is due in August.
The awards are organised by toys and games company Tomy and parenting magazine Prima Baby. If he triumphs in the online public vote, 26-year-old Matthew will be offered the opportunity to act as a media spokesperson for Tomy’s freestyle baby carriers range.
He will also win a luxury weekend break for two with spending money at a Mr and Mrs Smith hotel of choice, a baby carrier and hamper of pre-school toys for Oscar.
To vote for Matthew, visit www.tomy.co.uk/dadoftheyear before May 17. The winner will be announced on Father’s Day, June 22.
