Falmouth has been named as the second best coastal town in Britain by a national magazine.
Coast Magazine has picked out Falmouth to be runner up in its search for Britain's Best Coastal Towns 2008.
Drawing on a range of sources, from Ofsted and regional police statistics to data on life expectancy, employment and beach quality, Coast has profiled ten of the best locations for those aspiring to live by the sea.
Falmouth appears in second place and is praised by Coast for its low crime rate and active shipping and yachting industries.
The article comments on Falmouth's "snaking streets," with the author describing it as "one of the most livable places in the country."
Some of the town's key assets that are highlighted in the magazine include University College Falmouth, a "flagship high school" in Penryn College and a low crime rate.
Falmouth's shipping industries, yachting and attractions such as the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, Gyllyngvase Beach and Swanpool Beach are spoken of favourably.
Topping the list was Christchurch in Dorset, while Brighton in East Sussex came third.
