More than 100 householders in Helston have already taken advantage of a Cornish energy charity's offer of free insulation for their homes.
At a time of rising fuel bills, and fears over climate change, the Home Health scheme being run by Community Energy Plus aims to make homes "warmer, healthier and cheaper to run".
The charity, working in partnership with Kerrier district council, has enough funding to provide free cavity wall and loft insulation for 300 local households.
All privately owned and rented homes with up to four bedrooms are eligible, although housing association and MoD properties do not qualify.
More than 3,000 leaflets giving details of the scheme have been distributed to households in Helston and an information day has been held at the Guildhall.
Outlining the project to town councillors at a meeting earlier this month, Rob Pickering, from Community Energy Plus, said the offer was only running for a limited period of time and people needed to sign up within the next few weeks.
If there was not enough interest from people in the Helston town area, the offer would be extended to households in the surrounding area.
Anyone interested should call the freephone number 0800 512012.
