Police have now confirmed that a woman has died following a serious two-car collision near Chiverton Cross this afternon. 

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the other car has suffered a serious leg injury.

The passenger in this car was also injured, although it is believed not seriously.

Both were taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. 

The B3277 remains closed between St Agnes and Chiverton Cross, at the junction with Towan Cross, up to Three Burrows, Blackwater.

Scene investigators from the police serious collisions unit are there and the closures are expected to be in place for the foreseeable future.

A police spokesperson said: "The closures are expected to be in place for some time and motorists are advised to find an alternative route for the time being."

Emergency services were called just before 1.30pm today following the collision on the B3277 close to Chiverton Cross, on the outskirts of Truro.

Police, fire crews and the ambulance service were all called to deal with the aftermath of the collision.
