Twelve firefighters showed up at a Coverack property after reports of a kitchen fire to find that the resident had extinguished the flames themselves.
Two fire engines, one from St Keverne and one from Mullion, rushed to the scene when they were told that an oil-fired oven had caught alight at around 1.20pm today (Sunday June 23).
By the time they arrived, the resident had managed to battle the blaze and put it out by using a fire extinguisher.
Firefighters made sure the fire was fully out and made the scene safe before returning to their stations.
