The National Trust has given more details after a man fell from a cliff near to one of its car parks this morning.

The incident took place at Godrevy, near Gwithian on the north coast, just before lunchtime.

He was taken to hospital by ambulance and it is not currently known how serious his injuries are.

A National Trust spokesperson has now confirmed that the man fell near the Red River, close to the car park at Godrevy.

The section of cliff was in an area away from the main path and while the exact height he fell is not clear, the spokesperson said it would not have been as high as further along that section of coastline, where it is popular to watch seals.

The beach car park was closed to new vehicles to allow emergency services to get access and treat the man. It has since reopened.

Police, the ambulance service and a motorbike paramedic were all called to the scene.
