The children of a Falmouth mum who passed away suddenly are faced with the "impossible task" of funding her funeral.

Paula Chapman died unexpectedly on Monday June 3 at the age of 52.

Her five children are still waiting for tests to come back to determine the cause of her death, although they expect it was because of natural causes.

Daughter Jazmin Hurrell said: "It was so sudden, we didn't have any preparation or anything."

They estimate that a funeral will costs between £3,000 and £5,000. On top of this, Paula's daughter Kara lives in New Zealand and would need to pay for a flight back to the UK.

Her siblings "would like nothing more than for our sister Kara to be able to come home to say goodbye to mum.

"She is what feels like a million miles away from her family at a time when all she wants the most is to be with them at this time of such sadness."

Falmouth Packet:

Paula's children have now turned to the people of Falmouth to help them in this difficult time.

They have started a

crowdfunding page

aiming to raise money to cover the cost of the funeral, and have raised £1,160 of their £4,000 goal so far.

Paula lived in Falmouth for most of her life. Jazmin said: "She was such a lovely person, one of those people who got on with everyone. I don't think she was disliked by anyone."

Although still too early to have set a date for the funeral, Jazmin said that it will most likely be held in the next few weeks.

A message on the fundraising page reads: "To lose someone so close, is always so very sad, however losing someone so suddenly adds the worry of being unprepared for the huge costs involved.

"We just didn't plan for this and thought we had many more years with our mum in our lives.

"It absolutely breaks our hearts that we can't just give our mum the send off she deserves."
