Police are seeking witnesses after an assault on Penryn Street in Redruth that left a man with a serious head injury.

The incident reportedly took place at around 11.25pm on Saturday June 1 on the pavement by Redruth Baptist Church.

The victim, a man in his 60s, was reportedly punched and knocked unconscious before being rushed to Treliske hospital.

The offender is thought to be a white male around six foot tall, of normal build with short dark hair that was shaved around the back and sides.

He was also wearing a dark coloured short sleeved t-shirt, dark jeans and shoes.

Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a light coloured convertible car who stopped and assisted the victim.
